At The Academy, middle school - Studio 78 - is where fun and responsibility collide.

Through student-driven academics, real-world projects, and leadership opportunities, students learn how to manage time, set goals, and take initiative.

We guide students to understand that their actions have consequences and that they are responsible for their own success. By integrating faith, peer relationships, and personal accountability, we help students build confidence, integrity, and purpose.

They learn to think critically, lead boldly, and prepare for the challenges ahead. And they do that through fun, adventure, responsibility, and teamwork.

  • Middle school is where students stop being told what to do and start learning to lead themselves. We combine core academics, real-world challenges, and deep conversations to help students take ownership of their choices and growth. It’s a launchpad for becoming confident, responsible, and purpose-driven.

    “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12

  • Yes—if they’re ready to grow. We don’t micromanage, but we do set clear expectations. Students learn how to manage their time, own their mistakes, and push through resistance. We build internal drive, not external pressure.


    “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” – Hebrews 12:11

  • Freedom without responsibility is chaos. We give students choices—but they also own the results. They plan their weeks, track their goals, reflect on their growth, and share their progress publicly. When they fall short, we help them reset, not make excuses.

    “Each of you should test your own actions. Then you can take pride in yourself alone, without comparing yourself to someone else.” – Galatians 6:4

  • Students master reading, writing, math, science, and social studies—but more importantly, they grow in communication, self-awareness, problem-solving, and leadership. They take on real projects, lead discussions, and explore how faith intersects with the world around them.

    “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” – Proverbs 18:15

  • We talk about it openly and often. Middle schoolers are figuring out who they are and how to treat others. We hold a high bar for respect, kindness, and responsibility. Students lead town halls, mediate conflict, and grow through real conversations.

    “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” – Philippians 2:3

  • It’s not just something we teach—it’s the lens we live through. Students study scripture, wrestle with big questions, and explore what it means to follow Christ in a confusing world. We don’t want kids to fake faith. We want them to own it.

  • It’s limited and purposeful. We use tech for learning, not for babysitting. Students build digital responsibility through goal-setting tools, research, and communication—but most of their day is unplugged and interactive.

    “Everything is permissible for me—but not everything is beneficial.” – 1 Corinthians 6:12

  • Yes. Our model supports families who want more time together, real-life experiences, and fewer meaningless assignments. We’re not about busywork—we’re about growth that matters.

    “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” – Ephesians 5:15–16

  • Still very involved—but the role shifts. Parents become coaches and mentors, not managers. You’ll have insight into your student’s progress, input into their journey, and tools to help them grow in confidence and ownership.

    “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
